TRONCONES BEACH

Just fifteen miles from the luxurious resorts of Ixtapa and the yachters' paradise of Zihuatanejo, the quiet village of Troncones feels like a different era. Nestled between the Sierra Madre Mountains and the Mexican Riviera, this seaside fishing village is where visitors will find the easy pace and welcoming spirit of a classic Mexican hideaway. Travelers are drawn to Troncones looking for a pleasant sense of isolation and seeking the unspoiled and barefoot beach vibe that has diminished elsewhere on the Mexican coasts.

Troncones was founded in the 1970s as a farming community. The village is now home to about 250 people who farm and fish, as well as a sprinkling of foreigners who have come to Troncones and found the tranquil beauty impossible to leave. With it they have brought a strong culture of surf and yoga, so you will find lots of opportunities to do both.

Troncones sandy beaches stretch for 3 miles, but it has gained much international acclaim among surfers and adventure seekers surfing the breaks at Troncones Point and Manzanillo Bay. Guided surf trips, board rentals, and lessons are available along the beach.

A handful of wonderful dining and entertainment options create a mellow bohemian vibe and for all price ranges. You will find small grocery stores and locally owned shops along the main road that runs the length of the beach.

Enjoy many activities including surfing, biking, kayaking, hiking, fishing, yoga classes, boogie boarding, snorkeling, swimming, paddle boarding or just walking the miles of pristine beaches. Staying active in Troncones isn’t about finding something to do, it is more about finding time to do it all.

Taxis are easy to come by, and there are also bicycle and ATV rentals.

Troncones doesn’t roll up their sidewalks when the sun goes down either. Many restaurants and hotels offer entertainment in the evenings like live music, dancing, and other special events.
